Lots of Firsts...

We had a lot of "firsts" lately.

To start, Cailyn had her first taste of cereal.
**sigh**

I tried really hard to postpone this day. It takes so much longer to feed her ( I am running out of minutes in the day as it is), and the mess!! She was starving though, and her little blue eyes watched us put food in our mouths with so much longing that I finally gave in. She actually did very well, not too messy, and is getting better every day at not sticking out her tongue and pushing out half of the cereal with every spoonful. Soon, veggies...

We also went to our firstcollege basketball game. We have a good friend that is the Assistant Athletic Director at the college. He put us court side. The kids loved to see all the action up close, although I was a little tense the whole first half, wondering if a ball was going to fly our way and knock one of us out. The kids were in danger, because they are not paying close attention, and I am right there with them, because I am paying attention to the kids. We moved up after half time, so I could relax and not be in constant protector mode.

They gave away free ice cream bars to anyone who was wearing red. Brent's hat got us one, and my "almost red-- good enough" pink shirt got us another one. Bella (my sweet tooth) held onto her's so tightly that it was chocolate-and-vanilla soup in a wrapper before too long. She had it in her hair, all over her face, on her shirt and in her fingernails. We could not get it away from her. Girl after my own heart. Nobody takes my sweet treats either!

And last, but not least, it was the first day to start putting up all our Christmas decor. Jacob really had fun with that. He found some old stockings and a hat, and came out of his room looking like this:

He kept saying "HO, HO, HO! Merry Christmas!" with a robot face and rocking his arms like the wind-up Santa on The Polar Express. It was pretty funny. Jake has got to grow up to be something in the entertainment business. He loves to make people laugh, and really gets a kick out of people watching him. Heck, he watches himself in the mirror, just to have an audience. He is going to be that football player in the end zone that does the crazy dances, or the basketball player that does a triple 360 flip around slam dunk, just to get the audience going. I can't wait to see what his future holds!

I love this time of year! I love the smells, the music, the lights, the food-- the extra bit of happiness that is in the air. Most of all, I love that it is a time to remember our Savior. It is my hope that my kids will remember Him above all.

Merry Christmas!

I am pondering whether to give my 4 month old some 'real' food. I don't want to but the she's a big girl and I could use some sleep at night!

Merry Christmas!
